Hello NTS Racers!
The checkpoints have been selected and I’ll give you a hint that taking public transportation will be to your advantage. So, make sure you know the main bus routes (where the go and their frequency) as well.
The race boundaries are as follows: all of downtown but not including Stanley Park; East to Main Street, South to Broadway, and West to Arbutus. Everythiing within these limits is fair game.
The race will start from the Azure Bar and Grill at the Plaza of Nations. Arrive at 9am to pick up your race number. We’ll have a race briefing at 9:45 and then we’ll hand out the clue sheet at 9:55. The race will start at 10am sharp.
It’s best not to park in the Plaza of Nations because it’s super expensive. Park on the street and walk in.
Here are a few tips for all you first timers:
1. Get a good map that shows the Civic addresses on it.
2. Arrange for a support team that you can call and have them help you solve the clues. They can either be at home or they can come to the Plaza if you have a wireless laptop.
3. Know the bus and aqua bus routes.
4. Get a good map bag to keep your map dry from your sweaty hands.
5. Make sure you camera is charged up.
The Award Ceremony will begin just after the 4 hour cutoff. We encourage you to invite your support team down to the Azure to help celebrate as you’ll find that they are a very important part of your success. You can order off the menu at the Azure.
